The whole point here is to get double the opinion of most everything, it is just that basic. I will also point out a couple of other, shall we say, goals of Reverse Thieves. First and foremost, we want to tell you about shows you might have overlooked! We don’t review shows we don’t like, there is enough of that out there, and why would we want to draw your (the reader’s) attention to them (unless of course they are so bad they are good again)? We don’t waste our energy on something we dislike. Secondly, unless we have a reason, we only review shows after a complete watching (or sometimes a season at a time). For short stints or episode reviews you can look to the Ongoing Investigations post. Third, we like to review events, you may have noticed. We are lucky enough to live in NYC where there is so much going on that it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t share it. We also get the privilege of attending some events as press or doing various panels at conventions. And lastly, we attempt to take a critical look at modern fandom. It is constantly growing and changing so we want to be right there giving commentary. Reverse Thieves is none too big but we are determined to stick around and have our voices heard.

reversethieves.com — This week we look at the characters we hate and once again ask you the readers decide... if that it means anything about Narutaki and I. It is often said that what we hate the most in others in what we hate about ourselves. Does the fact extend to anime characters we hate? What do the characters we like say about us?
reversethieves.com — Apparently I am easier to read than a picture book. It seems that people are rather easily... able to tell which characters I like from series that I watch. This revelation led Narutaki and I to have a long conversation not only about what types of characters we liked but what did it say about [...] (more) What do the characters we like say about us?

reversethieves.com — Having loved the manga I decided under the gentle urging of a fellow Hitohira fan to go... and finally sit down and watch the anime to compare the two. I prefer the manga but the anime is a wonderful adaptation. Hitohira is the story of a painfully shy girl who after being roped into joining [...] (more) Ongoing Investigations: Case #066 DONE BY 11/13

reversethieves.com — Narutaki and I found this series when we were doing our overview of Crunchyroll. We decided to... check it out on a whim and were impressed how well it was done for something that was otherwise completely off our radar. It is fascinating series for a number of reasons. It is a sci-fi series in [...] (more) Time of Eve, All About Eve

reversethieves.com — Recently I had the good fortune to buy a rather inexpensive PSP opening a whole new avenue... of portable gaming. The seller also threw in a copy of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII which I had been meaning to try out. Crisis Core takes place before Final Fantasy VII and stars Zack Fair who [...] (more) Ongoing Investigations: Case #065

reversethieves.com — The further we dig into these surveys the more obvious it becomes that our sample group is... a diverse bunch that surprises me more and more. As we say in the previous post about attractiveness, you might have gotten the same results by polling random passersby on the street. I think the same ... reversethieves.com — Honey and Clover by Chika Umino If Honey and Clover was always sepia toned it would never... seem horrifically out of place. Honey and Clover is a joyful if melancholy tinged looked back on college life. It looks at the lives of 5 students at an art college in Tokyo. The main theme is trying to [...] (more) Manga of the Month: November

reversethieves.com — I already loved the second Professor Layton game merely because so much of it takes place aboard... a steam train! And quite nicely the scope of the mystery is much broader than the first though there are still some strange towns and townsfolk about. All the great things from the first game are in ... Ongoing Project: Detective Series List
reversethieves.com — It is not always at the forefront but this is a detective themed anime/manga blog. In that... spirit we have decided to create a small database of detective series. Every title on the list is a anime or manga that has a detective as the star of the story. Sometimes the detectives are professional, ... (more) Ongoing Project: Detective Series List

reversethieves.com — And so ends Kim Dong Hwa’s Color series with the Color of Heaven. The series proves itself... to be a classic Shakespearean Comedy despite the fact that it is not an Elizabethan play. reversethieves.com — All the various Gundam shows come together to make a strange animal. They are all part of... the same franchise but are radically different from each other. Nagi Sanzenin: In Praise of the Ota-Queen
reversethieves.com — My favorite character in Hayate the Combat Butler is without a doubt, Nagi Sanzenin. Not that I... don’t love Maria with all my heart.
